Julian is British, but has been living overseas since 1992. He is a scientist by training, with a degree in biochemistry. He worked for several years as a management consultant before being posted to Russia in 1993 to manage a large scale training programme for Russian energy efficiency engineers. In 1996, he set up his own consulting company in Russia and continued to manage large scale technical assistance programmes.In 1998 he moved to Malaysia to run the Malaysia and Singapore offices of a UK-based environmental consulting company. In 2000, he moved to Tioman island to pursue his dream of running his own dive centre, which he still does. In 2006, he was a member of a team which established Reef Check Malaysia, a global NGO involved in coral reef conservation. He is now the general manager of Reef Check Malaysia. |
